About London Fire Block Ltd
London Fire Block Ltd was founded in 2024 by Dean Bird and Mick Reed, highly qualified and experienced firefighters who are passionate about fire safety having borne witness to the tragic effects of its neglect. In addition they ran a successful building business carrying out general building work in both domestic and commercial premises.
Dean Bird
Dean is a Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers and holds a Level 3 qualification in the Inspection of Firestopping Systems. He is qualified in the installation and maintenance of fire doors under BM TRADA certification.
He is a Level 4 qualified Fire Risk Assessor and a member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers, registered on the NFRAR Register at Tier 2 level.
Dean also holds the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and is qualified to carry out Health and Safety Assessments.
His combined experience across fire protection, inspection, and compliance enables him to provide clear, practical, and legally robust advice to clients.
Dean served 32 years in the London Fire Brigade with more than 25 years as a Station Officer across central London.
Mick Reed
Mick has a thorough understanding of fire behaviour, fire development, and the critical role of compartmentation in protecting life and property.
He is BM TRADA qualified and regularly audited in firestopping installation.
In addition, he holds a Level 3 qualification in the Inspection of Firestopping Systems.
This combination of installation and inspection expertise enables him to provide accurate advice, detailed recommendations, and high-quality remediation work to ensure that building compartmentation meets current compliance standards.
